Topic: Psychological Inertia
Hello there, welcome back and Happy New Year!
So, today we learned a new sub-topic. What is Psychological Inertia? Psychological Inertia (PI) represents the many barriers to personal
creativity and problem-solving ability, barriers that have as their
roots “the way that I am used to doing it.” In solving a problem, it is
the inner, automatic voice of PI whispering “You are not allowed to do
that!” Or, “Tradition demands that it be done this way!” Or even, “You
have been given the information, and the information is true.”
Today question 1 (Discuss in group):
You are given 2 mosquito coils and 1 box of matches. Find the value solutionon how to get exactly 45 minutes if each coil burns for 1hour.
Answer:
- Firstly, light one at both ends and the other at one of the coil.
- Half an hour later when the coil burns up, the second technically has 30 minutes left.
- So, when we light it at the other end and it will be done in 15 minutes, which makes a total of 45 minutes.
- As long as each coil burns for exactly 60 minutes this should work regardless of fluctuations in the burn rate.
